The mount looked and worked great on my SKS chines (French Tickler). I had to remove the pin first from the rear sight then slided out the rear site with one hammer hit. No special tools are needed. Well made and solid. Thanks for making such mounts.

Although I havent had the chance to install it yet, this is without a doubt a high quality product. Not only is it manufactured well with good material, the packaging was great, they included hex and torx wrenches for install, even include thread lock! You get what you pay for here.

Bought 2 aluminum, easy install using provided tools and a small level. Only complaint is one screw being about 3/32 too long, passing through the front of the sight block horizontally it obstructs the lever retaining the gas tube on my chinese sks, this may only be an issue on the chinese rifles. I would recomend checking this before leveling and completing the install so you can grind it shorter without releveling twice like I did. Has retained zero despite a fall off the 4 wheeler, generally rough treatment and a 720rnd spam can of surplus ammo. The back up irons are great, though I did need to adjust my front sight 4 full turns higher.

NOTE: This is a red dot mount and is NOT designed to work with a long eye relief scope. We have a dedicate SKS LER scope mount that comes with a steel shell deflector. The LER scope is long and will cover the ejection port. Ejected shells will hit and may damage the scope - so a shell deflector is required if you want to mount an LER scope. 

    SKS Ejection Pattern, Optic Clearance, and Steel vs. Aluminum Mounts 

    The aluminum version now includes a removable and adjustable spring-steel shell deflector. This helps protect both the optic and the aluminum mount base from ejected casings. Other than the shell deflector, the steel and aluminum versions are identical in design and function.

    The SKS rifle is generally designed to eject empty casings toward the 1 to 2 o’clock position. However, due to variations in gas pressure, ammunition, rifle condition, and casings bouncing off the receiver wall, it is not uncommon for some SKS rifles to eject casings closer to the 12 o’clock position.

    If your SKS ejects casings straight up at 12 o’clock, the casings may contact the optic, especially if the optic is mounted too high or too far back. They may also strike the underside of the red dot mount.

    Steel casings are harder than aluminum and may leave visible marks on aluminum mounts if they repeatedly hit the mount base. For rifles with a strong 12 o’clock ejection pattern, the steel mount may be the better choice. However, both the aluminum and steel versions are equally reliable in terms of holding zero, strength, and overall durability.

    Optic Selection, gas tube removal and stripper clips loading:

    If you want to be able to remove the gas tube without taking off the optic, and use the stripper clips at the same time, we recommend using micro reflector sights such as Vortex Defender, Burris Fastfire4, Bushnell RXS-250 or Leupold Deltapoint Pro that are shorter than 2.25 inches or 57 mm.

    A reguar red dot that is shorter than 2 1/2" but longer than 2 1/4" may also work, depending on the shape of the base and the recoil lug position. Such as the Holosun 403A: 

    SKS has a very compact design around the rear sight and loading port area and is only 2.5" (64mm) in length. So if your red dot is longer than 2.5", mounting it forward on the rail will let you use stripper clips, but you may need to take off the red dot to clean the gas tube. You can make the process easier by using a quick release base of course.  

    Installation tips: 

    1). Please make sure that after removing the rear sight spring, you clean the "groove" and remove dirt and dry cosmoline using a sharp object (the tip of a knife will do). 

    2). Clean all threads, including bolts and threaded holes using soapy water or rubbing alcohol and let dry.
