This thing is pretty! Very well made. It fit in the rear sight location VERY snugly with no adjustments necessary.

Love it, but be aware: Clearances are tight! I would swap two steps, putting the top screw into the threads (not tight) before driving in the pin. Driving the pin first doesn't allow the screw to line up with the hole sufficiently to start the threads. Your results may differ!

I have an I.F. K98K .30-06, I bought decades ago. I believe it came from Israel as all the Waffen marks are peened out, so great condition, but not collectible. I bought the scout scope and it fit perfectly, I mean tight! I bought the suggested Hi-Lux and it was just right with some low weaver rings. The scope is very clear and I found the setup looked great together. With the scope on 7x I zeroed at 100yards. This rifle is usable for hunting now as I couldn’t see the iron sights well enough to shoot, now it’s putting 3 rds in an 1 1/2” . Thanks !

Love this product. Perfect fit for '39 Sauer K98k. Easy to install and set up with scope. Made a very nice RC "wall-hanger" into a great "shooter."
Worked great required no fitment. Had a handguard that didn't allow it to mount correct and they gave me links to find an aftermarket one and quick response time.
Easy to install. Very solid. I put about 70 rounds through gun after the install and zero is holding fine. Can’t say the same for my shoulder.

It's solid and holds zero. I used removable blue Loctite. on the screws. Installed a Timney trigger and set it at 2.5 lbs. The scope is a 1-7 power vortex scout scope. the eye relief id perfect. With handloads I am able to get sub-3/4" groups!

HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR RIFLE (NOT all Mausers are K98k):
Mauser K98k has a short handguard that is approximately 7 inches long and is in front of the rear sight. The rear sight base is 3.5 inches long.
We strongly encourage you to remove the rear sight leaf following this illustration image or the YouTube installation video above to confirm that your rifle is indeed a K98k before placing your order. If you are not sure what your rifle is please check this FAQs page first. You can also contact us for future help.
Tips: How to remove the rear sight retaining pin
Not all rifles' rear sight leaves have retaining pins. You should be able to see the retaining pin sticking out a little bit from the head of the rear sight leaf if there is one, such as this one:
The retaining pin is slightly longer than the rear sight leaf - this is to prevent it from being pressed down and removed. So, if your rear sight leaf has a retaining pin present, you must punch it out first.
Some models don't have retaining pins, such as this one below:
If that is the case, you can simply press down the rear sight leaf and remove it.

SCOPE RINGS:
Both two LER scopes above have a 32mm objective lens and can be mounted very close to the bore, which is always desired by shooters. The following two low-profile scope rings are the perfect match for this setup at competitive prices:

NOTE: Traditional picatinny rings have one recoil lug at the bottom. However, we noticed that some newer innovative rings have two recoil lugs and they are NOT compatible with this K98k base - the front of the rail has one slot only due to the very limited space in front of the rear sight base:
In some rare cases, minor fitting may be required due to the many different manufacturers of the K98k model. If you have trouble aligning the scope mount threaded hole with the rear sight base holes, remove the scope mount and make sure the groove of the rear sight base "hook" is clean and free of any debris and cosmoline. Insert the scope mount into the groove again and slightly tap the head of the scope mount backwards until the holes are aligned.
If that still doesn't work and the scope mount still sits forward, take off the scope mount and remove a small amount material from the tail of the scope mount using a fine metal file until holes align properly.
